An open heart and musical soul is but one way to describe singer song writer guitarist Christopher Union.
Around mid 2015 Chris was ‘discovered’ playing Buckshot Bebe’s ‘Cat Piano’ open stage at the venerated ‘This Ain’t Hollywood’ by music photographer Benjamin Washington. Introductions followed with several musical veterans taking note, not least of all Award Winning Producer/Engineer Amy King and Bob Doidge of famed Grant Avenue Studio. As a sought after performer and musical collaborator in the ‘JazzPop’ genre Chris settled into a musical side project duo with singer songwriter Sheena Kay. Collectively known as ‘Union&Kay’. Described as ‘lightning in a jar’ the duo performs regularly to happy audiences and requests for encores.`
As of late 2017 Chris has a deep catalogue of original and tastefully refreshed jazz and pop covers. Helpful when constantly being compared to the great vocalists of yesteryear and today. A quick listen and its easy to hear why audiences eagerly await Christopher Unions debut CD release.
Sheena Kay’s sultry vocal styling first hit the scene in 2016 as part of the Hamilton based ‘jazz-pop’ duo Union&Kay.
Sheena is also a guitarist, singer, and songwriter with an old soul to match the depth of her unmistakable vocal stylings. Though classically trained, Ms. Kay is now breaking free to make the music that resonates with her and audience response has been tremendous. Having spent months working at the world-renowned recording facility Grant Avenue Studio in Hamilton Ontario, Sheena is fortunate to have been heavily exposed to the tutelage of producers Amy King and Bob Doidge. With more than one hundred live shows behind her as part of the ‘hush-inspiring’ Union&Kay, it is clear to all that Sheena’s star is on the rise.
Currently recording demos for Union&Kay along with solo material, Sheena is making full use of several studios including Ice Nine Studio. Original sounds and musical magic soon ensued.
